Camtel Could Soon Offer Amazon Cloud and AI Services in Cameroon

Cameroon Telecommunications (Camtel) and Amazon Web Services (AWS) are exploring potential collaboration in cloud computing, artificial intelligence, and satellite technologies, as the state-owned telecom operator seeks to expand its digital services. An AWS delegation for Africa, including Raya Nassar and Terrence Naidoo, recently met with Camtel Chief Executive Officer Judith Yah Sunday. The meeting was also attended by Antoinette Manyaga, information and communications technology representative at the U.S. Embassy in Cameroon. Cameroon Joins Global AI Body as Founding Member

Cameroon, along with 28 other countries, signed the agreement establishing the World Artificial Intelligence Cooperation Organization, WAICO, a new intergovernmental body aimed at strengthening international cooperation and global governance in artificial intelligence. The agreement was signed in Shanghai, China, ahead of the 2026 World Artificial Intelligence Conference, held from July 17 to 20 under the theme: “AI Partnerships for a Brighter Future.” The Minister of Minister of Posts and Telecommunications, Minette Libom Li Likeng, signed on behalf of the country.
