Cameroon's State Livestock Company Yet to Write Off CFA92.7 Million in Uncollectible Customer Debts More Than 15 Years Later
Cameroon's Livestock Development and Production Corporation (Sodepa) continues to carry CFA92.7 million ($160,000) in old trade receivables on its balance sheet, most of them linked to meat sold on credit to customers who have since died or cannot be located. Fully impaired, some of the receivables date back more than 15 years and now require formal approval to be written off. In the notes to its 2025 financial statements, the state-owned company said that "doubtful receivables amounting to CFA92,699,815 as of December 31, 2025, are very old and have been fully provided for." Dangote Eyes Cameroon Fuel Terminal to Expand Refinery's Central Africa Reach
Dangote Group considers building a petroleum products storage terminal in Cameroon, a project that could create a new outlet for fuels produced at its Lekki refinery in Nigeria while strengthening the company's presence in Cameroon and across Central Africa. The proposal, which remains at the discussion stage, was presented to Prime Minister Joseph Dion Ngute on July 21 by Devakumar Edwin, Dangote Group's Vice President for Oil, Gas and Fertilizer. Cameroon’s Ministry of Higher Education is inviting proposals for structuring projects at the University of Bertoua within the framework of the implementation of the Integrated Agropastoral and Fisheries Import-substitution Program (PIISAH). According to the call for applications signed on July 14, eligible projects must support agro-pastoral and fisheries value chains. They may focus on applied research, technological platforms, pilot production units, or local product processing and value addition. China Invites Cameroonian Exporters to Shanghai Import Expo
China's Ambassador to Cameroon, H.E. Xu Yong, has invited Cameroonian businesses to take part in the ninth China International Import Expo (CIIE), which will run from November 5 to 10, 2026 at Shanghai's National Exhibition and Convention Centre. The invitation was issued during a recent press briefing held at the Chinese Embassy in Yaounde. According to the Chinese Embassy, Cameroon will be participating in the event for the fifth consecutive year. Chinese Investors Plan CFAF45 Billion Zircon Project in East Cameroon
Chinese investors have presented a CFAF 45.2 billion zircon mining and processing project for Cameroon’s East Region, with plans to create about 500 direct jobs and 1,500 indirect jobs through the development of an integrated extraction and mineral transformation chain. The project was presented during a meeting between the Acting Director General of the Investment Promotion Agency, IPA, and a delegation of Chinese investors from Hongji SA.
